Contestant Notes

Keeley Lawrence (2.2 Essex)
Keeley, an actress by profession, had her meal cooked by a local restaurant. The menu, including wine choice, was put together by Smith's Brasserie, who then, on receipt of a text message, delivered each course through the kitchen window so that she could pass it off as her own cooking. As a loyal customer (and more likely for the free publicity they would receive) they gave her a 50% discount on the cost of the meal and also prepared Keeley to be able to deceive her guests by showing her how they cooked each dish. To perfect the illusion she baked some fish and garlic to fill the house with the scent of cooking. She did though cook the beans and potatoes at home.
When asked privately about her conscience: "I don't feel ashamed at all. I did earlier. I felt very, very ashamed because, erm, Jane came in and she said to me 'I... thank... thank you for a fantastic evening. You've been absolutely wonderful. You've really pulled all the tops out, you know, you've had so much going on this week.' And I felt terrible and, I... I couldn't lie to Jane. She's one person that I just, I just can't lie to."
Jane Phillips Martin, in a private moment during the meal: "I wouldn't tell anyone else that Keeley had help 'cos I don't think it's relevant. She still put in the effort and, you know, good on her for doing it. Absolutely good on her, I'd actually mark her higher for having the, erm, being clever enough to think about it. I wish I had."
Amanda Swanwick-Aharoni (2.2 Essex)
Although Amanda had help with her canapes from caterers, they only showed her how to make them so that she could make them for the meal by herself.
Katherine Taylor (2.3 Doncaster)
Katherine's friend, and professional chef, John delivered the desert of Fatty Puddings ready made and then stayed to help prepare most of the meal. After her guests arrived she explained that she had been helped, claiming that she made the starter and main course herself. When asked during the starter though she also admitted to having been helped with it, and then again during the main course. All four guests docked her points when voting because of this.
Paula Pearson (2.4 Brighton)
Paula bought her Spinach Soup amuse-bouche and dessert of Chocolate Pots from a chef at a local restaurant, but was open about this during the party.
Paul Lydon (2.5 Glasgow)
Christine Thornton originally only scored Paul's party with 1 point, but following her own re-scored him with 7 points.
Jarod Pepper (2.6 Nottingham)
Sam Hughes reduced her score for Jarrod the following day after experiencing "chronic stomach ache" overnight.
Isabelle Goldstein (2.7 London)
Isabelle tactically rated everyone with a low score in order to help her chances of winning. As this would have succeeded she was told at the end of the week she must rate everyone fairly or would be disqualified. She did not change Chris D'Sylva's mark though, the pair having not gotten along, as she felt her original low score was honest. Although the remarking was arguably low, with her finishing second, it invalidated any tactical advantage as it gave Bill Buckley the highest score of the week.
Ronnie Masters (2.8 Bristol)
Ronnie's celeriac rosti was made by "chef at work" but she claimed it was home made.
Chyna Warren feel asleep during the evening, missing dessert, and gave her vote the following morning.

Contestants' Ratings

Rachel Hodgson (2.8 Bristol)
Ronnie Masters "She is not getting any higher because I think the evening lacked a sense of occasion."
Nick Needs: "I think she missed the point it's a dinner party and not a gathering of friends over a social lunchtime."
Chyna Warren: "I'm gonna be really honest here and I'm gonna give it a one as that's how i feel about it - it was really boring!"
Clive Burrell (2.8 Bristol)
Rachel Hodgson: "I thought the carbonara wasn't as creamy as it could be. I liked it, but I've tasted better. So I'm giving Clive four."
Chyna Warren (2.8 Bristol)
Clive Burrell: "The overall score for Chyna, because the food was just about inedible, I thought, is going to be 3."
Ronnie Masters: "I think for this evening's dinner we're gonna give Chyna a 3, because that's probably the amount of days the lamb had actually been cooking for."
Tim Small (2.9 Gloucestershire)
Richenda Hines: "Tonight, I'm gonna give Tim a seven. I thought he did a really, really good job. Err, I thought the food was all cooked deliciously."
Pat Shepherd: "I'm giving Tim five for this evening. Mainly for trying so hard and he is so enthusiastic. But it was a pity about the soup and about the desert."
Nick Cooper: "I'm gonna give Tim a seven for his food tonight. His food was excellent, erm, not quite the way I would have done it."
Kat McLeod: "I'm gonna give Tim six. Err, because I feel, definitely better than midway, five, because he went to great efforts to source everything."
Richenda Hines (2.9 Gloucestershire)
Tim Small: "Im going to give Richenda an eight out of ten. It thought it was... I thought it was worth a ten out of ten but I have the feeling that one of those others is going to pull something spectacular."
Pat Shepherd: "I'd like to give her seven. It was excellent. The only bad point was the bread."
Nick Cooper: "I'm going to give Richenda seven marks out of ten. Erm, she did a very good meal but the pastry in the pudding really put the kibosh on, err, any extra points from me, I think."
Kat McLeod: "I'm going to give Richenda a nine for this evening's meal, erm, because everything was, erm, to me perfect. It was a perfect meal."
Pat Shepherd (2.9 Gloucestershire)
Tim Small: "I don't think that Pat has a chance of winning, but I am sure at the end of the week she's gonna end up being our favourite. I'm going to give Pat five out of ten for the evening."
Richenda Hines: "I don't know where she found the time to do it all but it was absolutely lovely. This evening I am going to give Pat an eight."
Nick Cooper: "She did have a few added extras. Erm, they were very nice, very welcome, and I think she'd gone to that little bit of extra effort and they were really nice. Very nice to see. Yeah. Tonight, out of ten, I am giving Pat an eight because she served up food that, to me, was fantastic. Everything she served was something that I liked."
Kat McLeod: "I'm going to give Pat an eight for tonight's meal. Erm, I feel sadly if the vegetables hadn't been burned and things like that I would have given her more."
Nick Cooper (2.9 Gloucestershire)
Tim Small: "You have a nine, because you were better than Richenda and I have to leave ten there for Kat if she can do it, but well done. Perfect."
Richenda Hines: "Right, tonight, I'm gonna give Nick an eight. Erm, I thought his food was fantastic."
Pat Shepherd: "I'm giving him a six because I enjoyed Richenda's better than Nick's, even though his was really enjoyable."
Kat McLeod: "I'm going to give Nick a nine, erm, purely because I feel the ice cream should have been sweeter."
Kat McLeod (2.9 Gloucestershire)
Tim Small: "This is the hardest score that I've had to... to do, I'm giving Kat a seven."
Richenda Hines: "Tonight, I'm going to give Kat a seven."
Pat Shepherd: "I'm going to give Kat a score of six tonight."
Nick Cooper: "I think there are probable... probably limits you should take your organic-ness to, and I think she... for the purposes of... of today, I think she might have taken it a little bit too far. Tonight, I'm going to give Kat a six out of ten."
