Ratings
Ratings are given where the episode makes the top 30 programmes on Channel 4 during its week. The position is given in parentheses while the main number represents the number of millions of viewers who either saw the programme live or watched a recording within a week of its original broadcast. Repeat showings, including those on Channel 4 +1 are not included, however.

Episode Notes
- 3.S1 York Christmas Special
- This was an hour-long standalone episode in which each of the guests produced a different course, and the party moving to each host's home in turn throughout the evening.
- 3.12 Manchester
- 3.13 Birmingham
- 3.14 Kent
- These episodes (from 2006) were not shown during the original run but first aired in 2008. Two years later than the premiere of series three, and a few months after series four had aired.
Contestant Notes
- Ian Cook (3.2 Liverpool)
- Margaret Twemlow gave two reasons for not marking Ian with maximum points: he served water in plastic bottles and the bread in a pyrex dish with a chip. "God aren't I a bitch," she quipped.
- James Gammie (3.3 Edinburgh)
- Tracy Dobbie originally scores James' party with 5 points but changed this the following day to 7 points.
- Forbes Robertson (3.8 Ayr)
- Forbes spent less than £15 on food, including a main course of pigs trotters which costs 30p each. Though despite being tee-total he also bought Champagne for his guests to drink at £40 per bottle.
- Lizzy McCubbin (3.8 Ayr)
- Forbes Robertson marked Lizzy down for not remembering his name and calling him Frasier, this despite him wearing a large name tag following the same problem on previous nights.
- Edward Davies (3.10 Cheshire)
- Edward caught personally the trout for the main course.
- Jan Burrows (3.10 Cheshire)
- To impress Edward Davies, Jan lied that the prawns and chicken in her menu were locally sourced when she actually bought them in Asda.
- Annette Howard (3.11 Cardiff)
- Annette's meal was delayed by over an hour and her guests were then put out that she was not willing to eat her own food.
- Jane Lloyd (3.11 Cardiff)
- Annette Howard felt excluded from the conversation as she did not want to discuss food, and then started playing up to the disgust of the other guests.
Contestants' Ratings
- Carlos Buller (3.12 Manchester)
- Susan Brickell: "I'm gonna give Carlos an eight because we had a fantastic time, wonderful evening. The only thing that let him down was the crumble. And there you go."
- Dan Cumberland: "I'm going to give Carlos a seven. I think he was a very attentive host, and I think he made me feel very welcome as a vegetarian diner."
- Karen Oulton: "Tonight I give Carlos a four. I don't think he went to that much trouble, particularly. I only enjoyed one of the dishes, erm, and the whole atmosphere of the house was quite overpowering and not my cup of tea."
- Stuart Burke: "I'm going to give Carlos a five, err, because I think the hosting and his food just wasn't up to scratch."
- Susan Brickell (3.12 Manchester)
- Susan is identified in the programme as Susan Brickell but on the Channel 4 web site as Susan Bicknell.
- Carlos Buller: "She panicked and she was worried and, erm, it went a bit pear-shaped. She didn't give all of her best, she didn't give it all what she was capable of."
- Of her own party Susan said, "It was the mother of all muck ups, basically"
- Dan Cumberland: "I think she put her heart and soul into it. It just all went a bit tits up for her, didn't it."
- Karen Oulton: "I'm going to give Sue a six, erm, the reason is I think the main course let her down"
- Stuart Burke: "I think Susan, erm, crumbled. I think it, err, went really badly. If that was me I would not show my face again, probably. It was really bad."
- Dan Cumberland (3.12 Manchester)
- Carlos Buller: "Tonight there was no bad energy, no bad vibes. It was all cool. I didn't really enjoy the starter too much and... and the, erm, desert. So I think in my heart of hearts he deserved a six."
- Susan Brickell: "I think the evening actually was really chilled and quite informal and I think that's what made it really nice. The food wasn't as adventurous as I think the so... erm, other contestants have been."
- Karen Oulton: "I'm gonna give the whole evening an eight because I'm not judging it just on the food. It's the atmosphere and the level that people actually enjoyed themselves."
- Stuart Burke: "Err, this evening I'd give Dan a seven. He's worked really hard, erm, the starter was the only thing that I thought was mediocre, everything else was great."
- Karen Oulton (3.12 Manchester)
- Carlos Buller: "Tonight, I thought Karen dis... scored seven for me, I mean seven I thought was appropriate and right. Erm, everything was delicious."
- Susan Brickell: "I'm gonna give Karen an eight."
- Dan Cumberland: "Okay, tonight, I'm gonna give Karen a five. And that's not because I didn't have a good time or enjoy the evening. It's because I felt uncomfortable for a lot of the night because it's really not my kind of scene."
- Stuart Burke: "Tonight, I give Karen a nine. Err, I think the whole night was splendid, err, I enjoyed everything. Erm, about the evening, she was hospitable, the alcohol and the food was splendid. Erm, it was a great mix of a night. It was fantastic."
- Stuart Burke (3.12 Manchester)
- Carlos Buller: "Tonight I'm going to definitely, 100 per cent, say, from my heart, Stuart deserved an eight."
- Susan Brickell: "I am gonna give Stuart a rip roaring, rocketing, nine."
- Dan Cumberland: "He's... he's got the big eight. He's... he's got the big round eight. He's... he... yeah... he's a really good host."
- Karen Oulton: "Tonight, I'm actually gonna give Stuart an eight, tonight. And the reason being that, yes, the food was good but there wasn't enough of it, and I'm actually still very hungry."
- Nikki Bennett (3.13 Birmingham)
- Ian Harvey: "She's obviously cleaned up as she went along, which probably was why we waited so long for our food. 'Cos she was washing up and not cooking. At the end of the day, I give Nikki a six. Erm, basically, because it was good, it was nice, it was a lovely evening, but I don't think the food was that adventurous."
- Amanda Kelman: "Bit, err, obsessive with the house. The cleanliness. I'll give Nikki a six. Erm, it was plain food but I really enjoyed it."
- Wayne Starr: "Going to give Nikki a six, this evening. Err, I don't think the meal was that adventurous, err, and it was definitely tainted by being somewhat late."
- Suzie Allen: "I'm giving Nicola a six tonight. One of the reasons why is that, I thought her meals were very tasty but she didn't get the presentation right. Didn't get her meals out on time."
- Ian Harvey (3.13 Birmingham)
- Nikki Bennett: "Ian kind of, got a bit disheartened towards the end because it all went a bit wrong for him. My score for Ian's dinner party is going to be a five. Erm, I realize that he put an awful lot of effort into it but it wasn't my cup of tea."
- Amanda Kelman: "I'm going to give Ian, tonight, six for his dinner party. The timing of the meal: I thought it was all slightly out a little bit."
- Wayne Starr: "He'd given up at the end of the evening, it just sort of fell apart. I'm going to give Ian's dinner party a score of five. Err, the food was cold, when it came out it was late, and the hosting wasn't excellent, and unfortunately Ian lost the plot towards the end of the evening."
- Suzie Allen: "I give Ian's dinner party an eight, because I thought he was a very good host and he tried very hard even though he though that his meat was overcooked. But I thought it was good."
- Amanda Kelman (3.13 Birmingham)
- Nikki Bennett: "I'm, this evening, going to give Amanda a lovely seven."
- Ian Harvey: "I'm gonna give Amanda eight because she just did a really good job."
- Wayne Starr: "I'm going t... to score Amanda, tonight, a six. Hosting: superb, food wasn't as good as I... I probably expected, desert was fine. A... a six is good."
- Suzie Allen: "Although I didn't particularly like the main course meat, I thought the whole evening as a whole was a... a good success. So I'm giving... giving her seven."
- Wayne Starr (3.13 Birmingham)
- Nikki Bennett: "He tried too hard as far as I was concerned, and we could see through that. I'm gonna give Wayne's dinner party a six. Simply because lobster's not my thing and that was quite off-putting really, and that... it's such a shame because that was the only disadvantage that he had of the night. And the crêpes, they were good, but they weren't fabulous. Err, I think Wayne thinks he's a natural, err, kind-of... he's won... he's won. I think Wayne thinks he's won."
- Ian Harvey: "It was very, very planned and I don't think he relaxed at any point. I'm gonna give Wayne's dinner party a six because although it was really, really good I did feel it was all a bit contrived and not particularly relaxing."
- Amanda Kelman: "I'm gonna give Wayne's dinner party an eight because, erm, although I found his starter a little bit heavy, it was very nice, and his lobster thermador was beautiful. But I didn't enjoy the pasta."
- Suzie Allen: "I'm going to give him a seven because, erm his presentation overall was perfect. He was a very attentive host, but his food unfortunately let it down for me, otherwise he would have had a ten."
- Suzie Allen (3.13 Birmingham)
- Nikki Bennett: "I'm gonna give Suzie a five. I think we're all a bit partied-out and the pudding wasn't that great."
- Ian Harvey: "I'm actually gonna give Suzie a four and that's based on the fact that her food was okay, her hosting was okay, but I felt very uncomfortable this evening."
- Amanda Kelman: "Err, I'm gonna give Suzie a five. Err, because I think that she tried really hard, err, but it didn't really happen tonight, but I give her a five for her trying."
- Wayne Starr: "Tonight I'm gonna give Suzie four. Err, if I start with the food, err, I didn't enjoy the food this evening, it just wasn't... wasn't my cup of tea."
- Tanya Jay (3.14 Kent)
- Trevor Smith: "I'm giving Tanya a ten. Oh, a winning night. I tell you what, a winning night. It was like, a winning night. It was a swimming night."
- Allen Brockington: "Tanya's evening, tonight, a scoring of seven."
- Zoë Mortlock: "Very good host, lovely food, maybe slightly too hot for me, maybe too much food. Overall, a seven."
- Steven Parks: "It's been a great evening, I'm a really picky person, fabulous food, but there are some reservations, so a six."
- Trevor Smith (3.14 Kent)
- Tanya Jay: "I'm relieved that the evening is... over now. So, erm, I felt like, erm, Trevor, err, didn't give us all the attention that we needed. For tonight, I give Trevor five out of ten."
- Allen Brockington: "It was like Mr Magoo, cooking. Right, tonight I'm gonna give Trevor a five. Good effort, but it's a five."
- Zoë Mortlock: "The comedy involved in his cooking, he deserves a seven."
- Steven Parks: "I quite enjoyed Trevor's cock-ups quite a lot, because it was funny seeing the... the brash cockney punk lad of last night kind-of cocking things up slightly. It was gonna be a four, but his meatballs were actually really delicious, so he's got a five."
- Allen Brockington (3.14 Kent)
- Tanya Jay: "The food was bland. I didn't get enough of what I wanted, especially the ice cream. Err, for that reason alone I give Allen a five."
- Trevor Smith: "The best... the best bit about the evening was, err, when Allen got behind time. I thought 'right... right mate, right, payback time.' I'm gonna score Allen ten points."
- Zoë Mortlock: "I knew Allen's evening was gonna be good, erm, but I just think he was a really good host. I love his house, I loved his food, and I'm really impressed. If I went out for dinner and I received that meal I would be very, very pleased. So I'm gonna give Allen an eight."
- Steven Parks: "I'm gonna mark Allen down. On the duck being slightly over-cooked, there being a bit too much time between courses, and, most serious of all, I think the fruit tasted of garlic. So he gets a six."
- Zoë Mortlock (3.14 Kent)
- Tanya Jay: "I give Zoë five out of ten."
- Trevor Smith: "Zoë was bubbly, as she normally is. It came out in her food, came out in her presentation, stuff like that. I'm gonna give Zoë ten out of ten."
- Allen Brockington: "Tonight, I'm gonna give Zoë a seven out of ten. Erm, the portions were a little bit big for me, erm, but I still had a great night."
- Steven Parks: "I think Zoë tried very hard on... on every aspect of the evening, to try and make everybody comfortable. I'm gonna give Zoë a six out of ten because I've... I've had a nice evening. the food wasn't as good as I've had elsewhere."
- Steven Parks (3.14 Kent)
- Tanya Jay: "I'm gonna give Steven a five."
- Trevor Smith: "Just like all the others, I'm gonna score Steve a ten."
- Allen Brockington: "Tonight I'm gonna give Steven an eight. Well deserved."
- Zoë Mortlock: "I'm gonna give Steve this score, because I think the food was delicious, erm, really nicely presented, really well prepared, few little hiccups, but overall a great evening and therefore I'm gonna give him a seven."
- Rosie Sheppard (3.S1 York Christmas Special)
- Wayne Coyle: "I'm gonna give Rosie a greedy six. The reason being is the chillies weren't hot enough and the soufflé wasn't high enough."
- Peter Plaskitt: "My score for Rose is five, and the reason for that is on the presentation, really."
- Maria Greenhough: "For her starter, I'm going to give Rosie six."
- Wayne Coyle (3.S1 York Christmas Special)
- Rosie Sheppard: "I give Wayne, a Christmasy and Magical seven."
- Peter Plaskitt: "I'm gonna give Wayne nine. Purely because the kitsch sort of de... decoration on the table is really good fun and he's tried really hard."
- Maria Greenhough: "I'm going to give Wayne a seven. I thought his food was fantastic."
- Peter Plaskitt (3.S1 York Christmas Special)
- Rosie Sheppard: "I'm going to give Peter a fantastic seven."
- Wayne Coyle: "I'm going to give Peter an eight. Erm, his food looked brilliant, maybe too many peppercorns."
- Maria Greenhough: "I'm going to give Peter a seven. I thought it was beautifully presented, erm, very good. Possibly not the choice on my menu."
- Maria Greenhough (3.S1 York Christmas Special)
- Rosie Sheppard: "I'm giving Maria eight. Because, I think, for the lots of extra little added bits."
- Wayne Coyle: "I'm gonna score Maria, a very friendly, helpful, nine. She was quiet but her food spoke very loudly, and she actually made me like a chocolate pudding."
- Peter Plaskitt: "The score for Maria is eight. Because I think her presentation and her food was great. And her cocktail was to die for."
