Episode Notes

Contestant Notes

Steve Burns (5.06 Blackburn)
Steve, a wine connoisseur, refused requests to try various wines throughout the evening. As noted by Kelly and Stephen. Afterwards, though, he commented that "the group just weren't drinking a great deal of wine, Michelle wasn't drinking any. Erm... Kelly, I think, surprisingly wasn't drinking that much. And Stephen was reducing his intake one might say." Similarly in contrast to his guests he felt that "tonight the ambience, well, it was amazing. Right from the off, erm, everybody was talking again."

Contestants' Ratings

Linda Barker (5.1 Celebrity Special)
Lee Ryan: "I'm going to give Linda an eight."
Michelle Heaton: "Thought long and hard about this one, but I have to give Linda a nine. Almost perfection."
Peter Stringfellow: "Given that in any top restaurant you would have said 'nice.' Okay, I'm gonna give Linda nine, because it was a wonderful evening."
Lee Ryan (5.1 Celebrity Special)
Linda Barker: "I'm gonna go with an eight. It was really good."
Michelle Heaton: "It was a well deserved nine. It was an amazing evening, each course was as good as the last. The only thing that I would say is that they were very heavy dishes and that is the only reason why he hasn't got a ten."
Peter Stringfellow: "Impossible to give Lee any less than nine."
Michelle Heaton (5.1 Celebrity Special)
Linda Barker: "You know, the food wasn't that perfect, it wasn't always up to scratch, but she did a very good effort, so I'm giving her a seven."
Lee Ryan: "Straight down the middle in the ten, I'm gonna give her five. I'm sorry Michelle."
Peter Stringfellow: "Are you ready for this? Nine. And the reason is, she put her heart into it."
Peter Stringfellow (5.1 Celebrity Special)
Linda Barker: "He promised so much and he delivered so little."
Lee Ryan: "I think the food with Peter might have been a little bit bland and a little bit mismatched, so I'm giving Peter a five."
Michelle Heaton: "I'm gonna award Peter, tonight, a three. I'm sorry Peter, but the three only stands for the three bottles of Dom Perignon that we necked back."
Nancy Sorrell (5.2 Celebrity Special)
Caprice Bourret: "I score Nancy an eight."
Nicky Clarke: "I think my score is gonna be a seven."
Jimmy Osmond: "Even though the food wasn't my favourite, Nancy was amazing. She was a terrific hostess, and I score her a six."
Caprice Bourret (5.2 Celebrity Special)
Nancy Sorrell: "A little bit strange, synchronized swimmers. couldn't quite get that. That's alright. Caprice is brilliant. She knows that I liker her a lot. A lot, a lot. So I'm gonna give Caprice a seven."
Nicky Clarke: "That was very odd, you don't expect to go to down into the basement and suddenly, you know, kind of James Bond antics come up. I think that, erm, Caprice really pushed the boat out tonight, and I think that she deserves an eight.
Jimmy Osmond: "I give her, an eight."
Nicky Clarke (5.2 Celebrity Special)
Nancy Sorrell: "Food was great. Nicky was a bit stressed, a bit sweaty, but that's alright. So I give Nicky a good all-rounder eight."
Caprice Bourret: "I love Nicky's food, so I'm gonna score him an eight."
Jimmy Osmond: "Tonight's food was excellent. I'm gonna give Nicky a nine."
Jimmy Osmond (5.2 Celebrity Special)
Nancy Sorrell: "I'm gonna give the Jimster a seven."
Caprice Bourret: "The food was a little bit rich. I know it's the last night, but, I'm gonna give my friend Jimmy a seven."
Nicky Clarke: "Jimmy did the food that I love, and I think that he did it really, really well. So for that reason I'm gonna give him a nine."
Amanda Westlake (5.3 Aberdeen)
Rick Brecken Ridge: "On the whole it was very, very good and I enjoyed myself and it was a wonderful start to the week."
Laura Rojales: "I th... I really like the effort that she put into the food, but then the food wasn't quite up to my standards. So I give her a... six. Sorry, Amanda."
Bob Calder: "Sorry, Amanda. Love yer. Good girl. Five."
Rick Brecken Ridge (5.3 Aberdeen)
Amanda Westlake: "The fish and noodles I wasn't too sure about, however he brought back the glory with that cheesecake. Do Rick, you're getting a seven. Well done."
Laura Rojales: "Noodles didn't fit in fine with the fish, but since I liked the evening so much and I liked the pudding. Seven would be good enough for him."
Bob Calder: "I'm gonna go for a six. And that's mainly for the entertainment, but... honestly... I don't love you. I don't. I know you think I do, I don't."
Laura Rojales (5.3 Aberdeen)
Amanda Westlake: "It was a nice night. She put a lot of effort into the meal. Every dish was very, very nice."
Rick Brecken Ridge: "My score is an eight. One big fat poof, Delores, a number eight."
Bob Calder: "I'm gonna give Laura... I think a very good seven. I was gonna give her eight... but I'll give her the seven." The after Amanda's score while holding the eight card: "In fact, no. No. No, in fact, I've changed my mind again." Finally after the total was revealed: "No, no. Changed it. I'm sticking with my original, it has to be a seven. It was good, Yorkshire puddings let it down. Erm..."
Bob Calder (5.3 Aberdeen)
Amanda Westlake: "Tonight I'm giving Bob a seven. I think Bob did really well. Brilliant, erm, welcome into his home this evening. Nice meal."
Rick Brecken Ridge: "Bob is a super host, he is the host with the most. Erm, uncle Bobby is going to get..." Before revealing Rick's score they then cut away to Bob, as the final host, announcing the winner as usual.
Laura Rojales: "I'm gonna give Bob an eight because I loved his main meal even though the... the starters wasn't good enough for me."
Wendy Spencer (5.4 East Yorkshire)
Andrew Smith: "I say the first score would be, a six."
Sandra Brooks: "Tonight I really like to give Wendy a six."
John Beachell: "I'm going to give her a five."
Andrew Smith (5.4 East Yorkshire)
Wendy Spencer: "Tonight, the food was really good, but the evening lacked entertainment. So I'm gonna give Andrew a six."
Sandra Brooks: "I really enjoyed the food tonight, the food was real... So tonight I would like to give, erm, Andrew, seven."
John Beachell: "Tonight, I'm gonna score Andrew a six."
Sandra Brooks (5.4 East Yorkshire)
Wendy Spencer: "The only downfall was my reaction, my personal reaction, to the... three birds. So I'm going to give Sandra an eight."
Andrew Smith: "I feel a worthy score is six."
John Beachell: "The main course, I thought, was slightly bland. Erm, but everything else was fantastic barring Andrew's conversation, and unfortunately for that reason I'm gonna give an eight."
John Beachell (5.4 East Yorkshire)
Wendy Spencer: "I've had a great time at Jonathan's dinner party, but it's not a rugby club and I think the alcohol spoiled it. I'm giving him a seven."
Andrew Smith: "I believe John's dinner party was no better or no worse than either Wendy's or Sandra's dinner parties. And for that reason I'm giving a six."
Sandra Brooks: "And I would like to score, six."
Natalie Jasper (5.5 Plymouth)
Carla Wisdom Grey: "The proof of the pudding is in the eating so there I'm gonna giver her an eight."
David Martin: "Tonight I'm gonna give Nat a seven. The, erm, the starter was fabulous. The main course was great, erm, it was very bold doing the cho... err, the chicken mousse but un... unfortunately I found that the Parmesan cheese was very overpowering on the dishes."
Sharron Robbie: "She'd obviously gone to a lot of effort, so I'm giving her a seven."
Carla Wisdom Grey (5.5 Plymouth)
Natalie Jasper: "She didn't need to go out and buy the extras that she needed, and it wasn't really home made enough for me."
David Martin: "I found it hard tonight, I got... I think I personally got shot down a bit, but you can't let that detract from the... the... the... the... the... attributes that Carla did tonight. She did brilliantly well, and I'm really,6 really happy for her."
Sharron Robbie: "Tonight I've given Carla a seven. Erm, I was impressed with her menu. Erm, I've given her a seven, though, because I was slightly disappointed with her yum yum chicken.."
David Martin (5.5 Plymouth)
Natalie Jasper: "I wasn't so keen on the starter, disappointed in the dessert, because of the bought pastry cases, I just felt that he just made the chocolate sauce and that was it."
Carla Wisdom Grey: "Erm, so tonight, David gets eight. Erm, because the food was really, really, nice. The atmosphere was as good as it's been all week and he was a good host."
Sharron Robbie: "I wasn't, erm, really impressed with his canapes. I certainly wasn't impressed with his dessert. I think that both Natalie and Carla, on their evenings, made a lot more effort with their, erm, food that they produced." The following day she said "On reflection, following dinner at David's last night, I think I was a bit harsh. So I'd like to amend his score to a six."
Sharron Robbie (5.5 Plymouth)
Natalie Jasper: "Tonight I'm going to give Sharron a six. Because I felt that throughout the whole of the week she has told me so much fabulous things about her magnificent food, that I was slightly let down."
Carla Wisdom Grey: "Sharron's evening has not quite lived up to its expectations. The food wasn't as nice as I thought it would be. She's not spent as much time with us as I would have liked her to. So, for that reason, I'm gonna give Sharron a six."
David Martin: "Tonight, unfortunately, there were some major flaws throughout Sharron's, erm, menu, tonight, and unfortunately I'll have to give her a six."
Kelly Barlow (5.6 Blackburn)
Steve Burns: "I've had a lovely evening. Everything's gone very nicely. The mash was a little weak, it was two fish courses, the cherry pie was poor, but I'm gonna give Kelly a seven."
Michelle Brandon: "And I'm not a lover of pie therefore I'd like to award Kelly, for all her efforts, a sexy seven."
Stephen Mahon: "Her style was entertaining. I think her meal was mediocre."
Steve Burns (5.6 Blackburn)
Kelly Barlow: "In the whole of my life I have never come away from a dinner party sober as a judge. I fell like I have been having cream teas in church or something like that. The dessert was delicious, the rest of the food was middle of the road. It wasn't very special. And the wine wasn't flowing. It's unforgivable, not acceptable, I give him a four." The day after Michelle's party, though, she changed her score: "What I'd really like to do is, erm, is rescore Steve's mark. And the reason is because his food was a lot better than Michelle's, even though there was a lack of, err, wine on the night, I'd like to give him a five instead of a four."
Michelle Brandon: "In my opinion, because of the technical brilliance and the way the meal looked, the way he presented it, he deserves a nine. But unfortunately the atmosphere just let him down a little bit. So Steve, I'm sorry, you're going to get an eight."
Stephen Mahon: "I did everything I could possibly could to attract his attention to my empty glass, which was completely either ignored or missed. The whole evening completely lacked ambience. I'm gonna give him a five."
Michelle Brandon (5.6 Blackburn)
Kelly Barlow: "Michelle was a good host, she really was. But I have come away feeling a little bit down, a little bit subdued. Therefore I am gonna give her a four."
Steve Burns: "The food was a little disappointing, not as good as Kelly's, and I give her a six."
Stephen Mahon: "Chicken was okay. Triple berry delight wasn't a delight. I'm giving her a seven."
Stephen Mahon (5.6 Blackburn)
Kelly Barlow: "I'm gonna give Steve a six, tonight. Because his food, for me, wasn't the best food but I have had the best night so far. Therefore I'm gonna give him the highest score that I have given all week."
Steve Burns: "For his food I would give him a seven. But for the house, and the atmosphere he created as a host I give him an additional one. So that's an eight."
Michelle Brandon: "I'd like to give, erm, Stephen a seven. He's been a good host but unfortunately, erm, I didn't enjoy the food. But everything was beautifully presented."
Helen Kent (5.7 Royal Berkshire)
Tony Byrd: "A magic eight. Erm, her hosting skills were fabulous, she was always topping up my glass. Anything I needed she was there."
Fred Wilkinson: "I'm gonna give Helen a seven. Basically, I thought the food was okay. Was pretty simple, easy, tasty."
Sarah Lewis: "I'm gonna give Helen, err... big fat number eight."
Tony Byrd (5.7 Royal Berkshire)
Helen Kent: "I didn't enjoy the dessert that much but the rest of it was fantastic. So I think that's [an eight] quite respectable."
Fred Wilkinson: "Tony did a very good job tonight. He was a surprise package. A resounding nine out of ten. I thought the entertainment was great fun, food was excellently prepared."
Sarah Lewis: "Tony might be fit, but I'm gonna give you a saucy seven."
Fred Wilkinson (5.7 Royal Berkshire)
Helen Kent: "The main course was cold and I didn't enjoy the dessert, but his hosting skills were amazing. Loved the scallops."
Tony Byrd: "Overall I'm... I'm gonna give, erm, my friend Fred a seven. Now this is because, I'm... I'm not a big fan of Cognac and I... I... I thought it was a bit much on the dessert. Erm, although his meal was good, I thought it was a bit of a risk putting the steak tartar on there."
Sarah Lewis: "For Fred, this evening, it's an eight. Its.. he was a fantastic chef this evening, an amazing host, erm, but he got a little bit of help from Tony, Worrall Thompson."
Sarah Lewis (5.7 Royal Berkshire)
Helen Kent: "I thought her menu was pretty simple, but she made up for it for her hospitality."
Tony Byrd: "Tonight, I'm gonna give Sarah a seven. Now that's on the principle that I'm not a big fish fan. The mackerel paté towers... castles were a little bit fishy for me."
Fred Wilkinson: "Great hosting, decent entertainment, but not the best night we've had this week."
Rodney Marsh (5.8 Celebrity Special)
Lesley Joseph: "I'm going to give Rodney an eight. Erm, because the whole evening was such fun. We laughed, I loved the company, I loved him as a host."
Paul Ross: "It was a great, fun night. Rodney played us like a master England manager. And my head says six but my heart says, first night, seven for the Rodmeister."
Abi Titmuss: "I don't think he cooks very much normally, I could be wrong but I don't think he does, so he made a really massive effort and I think that's fantastic. Especially making a meringue."
Linda Lusardi: "Tonight I'm gonna give Rodney a whopping nine. And that's because the overall evening, the food, the wine, the ambience, the company, it was just brilliant."
Lesley Joseph (5.8 Celebrity Special)
Rodney Marsh: "Incredibly I'm gonna give Lesley ten out of ten. Not for the food, just for the fact that she's a lovely, lovely lady and I had a great time."
Paul Ross: "I would love to give Lesley, tonight, fifteen for entertainment and two for food. So I'm gonna meet in the middle. Lesley it's eight, you minx."
Abi Titmuss: "I'm going to give Lesley a... four."
Linda Lusardi: "Tonight, I'm gonna score Lesley a round six."
Paul Ross (5.8 Celebrity Special)
Rodney Marsh: "I was honest last night, in giving ten out of ten, even though the food was diabolical, last night. The company and the evening was sensational, and I... and I gave Lesley ten, last night. I have to be honest and give Paul a six."
Lesley Joseph: "I'm gonna give it a seven."
Abi Titmuss: "I'm giving Paul a seven out of ten, tonight. Because I think he made a really big effort, actually. Even though he acted quite cool, and like he was just having a nice time. I think he really did make a big effort, tonight. The fireworks were brilliant."
Linda Lusardi: "I'm gonna give the wonderful Paul Ross a nine. His food was faultless apart from the pudding. Absolutely tasty, gorgeous soup, gorgeous main meal. Erm... his house was so quaint and small made that was.. it made it very interesting. Erm, I would have given him ten but I missed his banter at the table because he was in the kitchen too much."
Abi Titmuss (5.8 Celebrity Special)
Rodney Marsh: "I'm gonna give Abi seven."
Lesley Joseph: "I'm gonna give Abi seven."
Paul Ross: "Tonight, for Abi, bearing in mind the food, the conversation, and the general ambience of the theme, it's a nine."
Linda Lusardi: "It was a fantastic meal and you would have thought a professional chef cooked it. Tonight, I'm gonna give Abi an eight."
Linda Lusardi (5.8 Celebrity Special)
Rodney Marsh: "And I'm gonna go... nine out of ten."
Lesley Joseph: "I'm giving Linda eight."
Paul Ross: "It's a lovely house, lovely food, lovely people... " His score of ten was kept secret and only revealed as Linda, as the final host, read out the results. Afterwards he added "I think Linda deserved it, mainly because she made a huge effort. The place was so warm and welcoming, like the lady herself. It was a wonderful, wonderful meal, really delicious meal. I teased her about the trifle, about her mum's trifle, but it was all right in the end, we got a bit of swiss roll in the end, so it was fine.
Abi Titmuss: "I'm going to give Linda a seven out of ten, because I thought tonight was superb. But I also thought that it was, erm, on a par with Rodney's and Paul's." Afterwards she added "Linda is so lovely and did such a lovely evening tonight that she totally deserved it."
